Hi, I'm Joaquim.

I'm an economics student at Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, on the English-taught international track with a minor in computer science. Most of my time goes into two companies I started this year: QuantAcademy and Aptence.

I grew up in Alsace. I built my first paid website for a business client when I was 13, and on weekends I play golf: I'm the Alsace Junior Champion and I play off 4.

What I care about is how people learn finance, and how you can tell whether they really have. A CV can't show you whether someone can build a model. A spreadsheet can, which is why this page is one.

Aptence · now

Banks and private equity funds still screen analysts with CVs and with Excel take-homes sent back by e-mail and graded by hand. Aptence is a HackerRank for finance: every candidate builds a realistic model in the browser, in a spreadsheet that behaves like Excel, and the server recalculates it on scenarios the candidate never saw. A hard-coded number fails the moment the assumptions move.

The recruiter gets one score across accuracy, integrity, structure, reasoning and speed, plus integrity signals (full screen, focus, blocked pastes, webcam snapshots) for a person to judge. I started it in October 2026, on top of the grading engine I had built for QuantAcademy.

QuantAcademy · since August 2026

QuantAcademy is where students prepare for investment banking, private equity, trading and quant interviews. I founded it and built it alone: 5,500+ fully explained interview questions, 50 modules and 1,000+ lessons, 37 modeling projects graded cell by cell, a 668-term glossary, and a Career Hub that reads the career sites of banks and funds every day and tracks more than 40,000 jobs.

It launched publicly in August 2026, is available in 9 languages and has reached 4,000+ users, with its first paying customers and no external funding or paid advertising. I wrote the whole stack: database, authentication, Stripe billing, AI interview simulator, and a programmatic SEO architecture of 50,000+ pages.

Alongside it, I post daily quantitative brainteasers and market explainers: 11,000+ followers and 18M+ views so far.

Elsewhere

In October 2026 I was personally invited by Diana Hu, Managing Partner at Y Combinator, to a founder event in London, where I heard the founders of Model ML and Solve Intelligence.

Before that: finalist of the Council of Europe national competition (6th of 300+), a baccalaureate with honours in the top 8% of my class, and 19/20 in economics, first in my school. I also took online courses from Stanford (game theory), Columbia (financial engineering), Wharton (quantitative modeling), Yale (financial markets, with honours) and Duke (behavioral finance).

I speak French, English, and some German and Japanese.
